Cross Country...
On Monday the 14th of September, South Campus held two Cross Country events in Dunedin. Due to Covid-19 Level 2 we couldn’t have one event. The Year 3-8’s competed in their races at the Dunedin school, running a tricky course involving mud, hills, gravel and a mud slide that proved to be great fun! After lunch they were involved in a range of different activities, including a bouncy castle and indoor team activities.
The Year 9-13’s competed in their races at Memorial Park, Mosgiel, running two different distances, depending on age groups. The course was a challenge but fitted well into the Cross Country theme, making students run across slippery grass, roots and uneven ground. There was great competition and the race was much enjoyed by all ages. There were organised games after lunch, with the boys competing in a soccer tournament, while the girls played Indoor Basketball.
Overall, considering the restrictions and not being able to be together on one site, the day was a big success and very enjoyable, thanks to all the teachers and parents who helped make this day possible.

Despite the unusual circumstances of having to hold the activity on separate sites, I'm pleased to say that the Cross Country was an excellent event! I know that the juniors had a wonderful time at the Dunedin Campus. Many thanks to Mrs McKergow and Mr Wylie and the Dunedin CA Team for their hard work on the junior event.
The senior school students took advantage of the great weather in Mosgiel and ran some very fast times. Congratulations to all runners and the especially to the winners from each group. Special thanks to Mrs Smith and Jill Lewis for their help with planning and organisation and also everyone else who helped make the day a success.
