Timaru Year 7-9 Funday...
On Monday, 7 December, we had a Fun day with the Year 7 - 9 students. We have decided to get this group of students actively involved in team work activities as they always have a lot of free time at the end of year. Putting the time to good use also have advantages for them as students on their learning journey.
Team building challenges students to problem solve and execute working with others. The water, balloon and chair relays allowed the students to develop stronger relationships and trust among each other. These activities also encouraged communication amongst them as they had to come up with plans that will help their team win. Trying to limit conflict throughout these activities is crucial to the team's success.
Teamwork teaches students how to respectfully and confidently express their ideas and opinions effectively in a group setting. They have proven themselves to be really good at that. The successful team work activities were concluded with a shared BBQ lunch and a play around in the tents before getting everything packed up. There is nothing like a game of volleyball and of course a movie to end the day, when it is just too hot and windy outside.
