GEOGRAPHY CHALLENGE!
We were given a challenge to learn some Geography this Wednesday. We started with a kahoot that asked general knowledge questions about geography and we recorded our scores. These ranged from 7000- 12000pts.
Then we each took a continent and became an ‘expert’ in that continent. We had to learn major countries in it, the capitals, the largest lakes, mountains, deserts, the seas, and oceans that surrounded our continents. We were asked to think about how we would collate this information so that we would remember it best. Would we use a mind map? Would we list things? Would we make a picture from it? Would we make some question cards? Then Ms. Campbell asked us 28 questions that covered all the continents. We had to work together as a team and use each person’s expertise in their chosen continent to get as many correct answers as possible. We got 24 questions correct!
Here are 10 of the questions we did, have a try to see how many you get!
1. What is the name of the body of water between Invercargill and Stewart Is?
2. What country is Angel Falls in? (the tallest waterfall in the world)
3. What sea is found between Africa and Europe?
4. Name all the Oceans?
5. What is the northern most ocean called?
6. Name 3 Deserts and the countries they are found in.
7. Which is bigger, Greenland or Iceland?
8. What is the capital of Russia?
9. Where are the Andes Mountains?
10. There are 4 seas named after colours – what are they?
At the end of this we repeated the kahoot we did at the beginning of the lesson to see if we could improve our scores. We all improved between 3,000 and 6,500 pts! YAHHHHH!
