From the Year 7-8 Students and Dunedin/Invercargill Campus
During the first couple of weeks of Term 4, the Invercargill, Dunedin and Timaru Year 7/8 students have been learning about debating and have had been competing against each other in teams of 3-4 as either the Affirmative or Negative.
Students have had to debate for or against a variety of different topics. These include that the Government should give all kids an allowance, Technology makes people dumber and that teachers should be paid more than doctors.
The quality of presenting the research found by every group was highly impressive and it made our jobs as teachers that much more difficult trying to decide which students we would send to represent the South Campus to the National Debate Finals.
A huge congratulations to all the Year 7/8 students for their outstanding efforts and a special mention to Maddox Burgess, Alana Bishop, Isla Malcolm and Maia McLean who represented our campus with pride and integrity during the finals.
