Last Wednesday 12th May,  the Year 3-10 students from Gore and Dunedin visited Dunedin. The Year 3-5's visited Tahuna Waste Water Treatment plant and the Year 6-10's visited the Mt Grand Water Treatment Plant followed by lunch at the Edgar Centre and a visit to Ocho Chocolate Factory.

The Treatment plant was really interesting. The guides were incredibly passionate and were able to deliver information about how the plants work in an engaging way for everyone. Although a bit smelly in places, there was a lot of learning that links in well with the primary areas focus on sustainability. The science involved in treating our water is fascinating

Our visit to OCHO included a visit to the ‘choctogon’ which was a glass room where we could view many different aspects of the chocolate making process. When we arrived we learned about the history of the company and the current practices. There were very clear links to some of the learning that our senior students have been doing in Commerce specifically in relation to sustainability in business practice.

We would like to say a massive thank you to the transport co-ordinators and drivers/ parent helpers, without you’re your effort dedication these days would not happen!
