Good afternoon all,
Welcome to second-to-last newsletter of 2023!
Our year 11 – 13 students are now well through the NCEA exams and will be looking forward to having these completed.
For the younger students OneSchool’s Head Start program has kicked in, and they have all moved up to the year level they will be working in next year. This has gone very well, and new routines have been established which should mean that students build momentum rapidly next year.
We are looking forward to welcoming families and friends to the Timaru and Gore sites for the Recognition of Excellence ceremonies on Wednesday December 6. Remember to register using the link 2023 Recognition of Excellence Ceremony Registrations - Wednesday 6th December if you have not done so already.
Finally, huge thanks to all the hardworking volunteers who helped with the Gore Campus upgrades recently. The new van shelter/covered walkway gives a big improvement in both comfort and safety, the juniors are looking forward to using their new shade sail, the Year 7s and 8s are enjoying their new classroom layout with a new glazed wall and direct access to outside, and the staff are loving the new staffroom window.

"Best Dressed" at South Campus
As part of the 5 Global Foci (one being Uniform), we are celebrating a "Best Dressed" each day on our Campuses.
These students will receive a OneSchool Award.

On Tuesday 5th December, we will hold our last 2/3 Way Conferences for 2023 to give parents an opportunity to meet with their child/s’ teachers.
These 2/3 Way Conferences are a great opportunity for the school to work with parents to support student engagement and learning across all year levels, and we are targeting full participation.
Student-led Conferences - Head Start: Year 4-11 Students.
- Student-led Conferences for Year 4-11 students will be held on the 5th of December, from 1pm – 6pm.
- These conferences will give parents of Year 4-11 students a chance for a 10-minute interview with their child’s Whanau/Form Teachers.
Please note that school will close at 12:30pm for all students to facilitate these interviews as no staff will be available to supervise the students. Any student who attends an interview in person is required to wear school uniform.
Cool Maths Games and Maths Playground
At the end of the year secondary students often like to organise a gift exchange amongst themselves, this is usually organised independently without encouragement from staff. OSG has received feedback on this recently and all campuses are asking that if any gift exchanges are organised that all gifts are capped at $10-$15 and there is a preference that gifts are food items. Please note that these gift exchanges must be referred to as such with no reference to any holiday themes. Form teachers will also share these messages with students.
