What a great day in history, Monday at the new Timaru school, with only a few new schools built each year in New Zealand, very few students would experience what it is like to walk into a brand new school on day one.
Years of planning, design and building, would like to mention a big thanks to Mark Suckling and Richard Simmons and others on the building team for their vision, passion and drive to get this project done, let's now get stuck in and pay it off.
I trust one day we will see a similar school in Gore, a larger role and the student interaction benefits, and improved learning experience that would bring.
The Graduation this year will be held at the new Timaru School Gym and we look forward to seeing all parents from South Campus there on the Thursday 6th December.
Kind Regards,
Nick Blampied, on behalf of the CA Team
Lila Kemp – Lila is extremely enthusiastic, motivated and determined. She always completes her work to a high standard and enjoys being challenged. Her self directed learning skills have been on show at the new school, which means she can successfully work in the Learning Centre. Keep up the awesome work Lila.
Tia Witty – Tia consistently displays the work ethic that allows her to achieve academic results of a particularly high standard. She is actively involved in many extra activities and fundraising events. It is obvious to staff that she has put considerable thought and effort into ensuring that next Tuesday’s Market Day will undoubtably be very successful. Keep up the great work Tia.
City Art – Year 3-6 Dunedin Campus
For this art we were looking at how we could draw a 3D city by using drawing different sized buildings. We started by drawing a road, we then drew the larger overlapping buildings behind the road, this was to show that these buildings were close up. We then drew smaller buildings in the background to create the 3D effect. We continued to add small buildings in the background to help build up our city. Before we coloured in our city we looked at warm and cool colours and which colours worked well together. We decided that a warm colour and a cool colour looked best together rather than two cool colours or two warm colours so we tried to include these combinations in our work.

As we commence the first week of Term Four, classes are in full swing and we are seeking to build on the success of Term Three. We are also keen to continue to develop our emphasis on building a strong learning culture where everyone strives to achieve their personal best.
We have had an incredible start to the term, with a day of art with Mr Taylor. Following a tutorial, we created a graffiti name. The tutorial showed us how to write the name Jack in graffiti letters. You can see some of our completed artwork below. Stay tuned for more from the 7 and 8 class as we progress through the term.

We are all enjoying our new school ... a massive thanks to everyone that made this happen.

Due to the long distances that our Community travels to get students to and from our Invercargill and Timaru sites; there is often a demand for a ‘work space’ for adults at school. We acknowledge this and welcome parents to work on site. We have made the following areas available if required.
Invercargill Site: Board Room
Timaru Site: Home Economics/ Kitchen Room
Both areas have tea/coffee available plus bathrooms close by. Please sign in with the Office Administrator if you wish to make use of these rooms.
Day drivers are also welcome to have a coffee before departing the school.
We have been advised that the Regional Sports Day which was postponed at the end of last term won’t be happening in 2018.
Please see the 2018 NCEA external exam timetable below.
Year 11-13 students will have their last day on Friday 2nd November and won’t be expected back at school until Thursday 6th December for Westmount Prizegiving.
Please note there may be an exception to this date for some students who will be required to come back to school to attend to some additional “Internal Assessments”. These students will be advised next term.
