Welcome all Team South supporters,
Your encouragement to the students at this critical time of the year is very much valued and supports our theme “Finish Strong!” Also a timely reminder that has been well proven over the years that, “How well our students finish Year 13 is how well they commence their working career”. Let’s make it a success for all, with every student a strong finisher.
In only one week, our seniors (Year 11-13) will depart for study leave and exams. While their presence around the school will be missed, we are very much excited about the Year 9 & 10’s that will take up the baton as leaders. Watch this space as our inaugural Year 10 Student Leadership Team is announced next week!
Kind Regards,
Tom Harrison, on behalf of the CA Team
Ruby Senior - Ruby is consistently taking part in classroom activities and including everyone fairly. This shows her future as a leader among her pairs. Great work Ruby.
Harry Senior - Harry is a role model for all those at Dunedin site. He does a lot of work behind the scenes for the Student Leadership Team, which goes without recognition. He has a positive attitude, and is a good student to have around. He has also received some pleasing results this year. Well done Harry!
From the Year 9 -13 Students at the Dunedin Site...
This model was made for DVC, and the brief was to enhance the lake for the subdivisions users. Currently they use the lake for kayaking and swimming, and with the addition of this shelter they can access the water further out while a separate group of people can be picnicking in the eating area. The real structure would be 16m long, 6.5 m wide and 3.5m tall and this model is to a scale of 1:30. It is made out of balsawood, and the dark grey painted wood is to imitate steel. The 3D printed men show that real people can fit into this shelter, and the removable roof shows clearly the eating area inside.

"Ditto in a Box" is the name of the Bravehearts programme for our Year 3-6 students. Approved resources have now been sent to South Campus and we will be rolling out the programme on each site over the remainder of this term. As Term 4 is always busy with swimming and other activities, classroom teachers will be in touch directly with their local parent communities to inform you of the specific dates they will be delivering this programme. If you have any questions, concerns or comments regarding the Ditto in a Box programme, please contact your relevant site classroom teachers or Ms O'Brien.
Please see the 2018 NCEA external exam timetable below.
Year 11-13 students will have their last day on Friday 2nd November and won’t be expected back at school until Thursday 6th December for Westmount Prizegiving.
Please note there may be an exception to this date for some students who will be required to come back to school to attend to some additional “Internal Assessments”. These students will be advised next term.
