Important Attendance Reminder...
Attendance – a friendly reminder that we require information by 8:30am about students being away from school. This could be an email, a phone call to the office or a note from a parent. We have been having issues with the School App so please do not use this. Thank you.
NZQA have made some significant changes to NCEA for 2020 as a result of the Covid-19 lockdown, which will have implications for our students.
Most significant of these changes are;
- For every 5 credits a student achieves, they will be automatically credited with 1 additional credit – up to 10 for Level 1 NCEA and up to 8 credits for Level 2 and 3 NCEA. Effectively this means that Year 11 students will only need 70 credits to achieve Level 1, and Year 12 and 13 students only 52 credits to achieve level 2 and 3. (NZQA will add these additional credits to all student records in January 2021 prior to releasing results).
- Students will achieve a Merit or Excellence Endorsement by achieving 46 credits at the required level, rather than the usual 50
- Students achieving 12 credits at Merit or Excellence level in a course/subject – rather than 14 – will be awarded a course endorsement.
- UE requirements have been reduced to 12 credits in 3 approved subjects from the usual 14. Students still need to attain NCEA Level 3 and meet literacy and numeracy requirements to be awarded University Entrance.
- OSG NZ exams are now a week later and will run weeks 6&7 next term (24th Aug – 4th Sept)
- External NCEA examinations will now take place from 16th November to 9 December 2020. Study leave for NCEA exams begins on Thursday 12th
