From the Year 7-8 Students at Dunedin/Invercargill Campus...
Lately, for Tech, in the Dunedin Year 7 & 8 classroom we have been making wooden boxes. The idea is to make it out of old wooden pallet or off cuts of wood that we have lying around. The box has to fit the needs of our key stakeholder, the person who we were giving it to.
Firstly, we cut up an old pallet to make the pieces for our boxes. We then used a circular drop saw to cut up our measured pieces of pallet. After that we used electric sanders to smooth out our pallet pieces. We are now up to drilling holes in the box pieces and hammering in dowels to stick the box together. We will put up some pictures of the finished boxes in the next couple of weeks.
